Vicarious Bliss - Paris

Vicarious Bliss believes he was spoiled as a child—musically speaking, of course. Born in Manchester, the DJ was constantly exposed to the musical stylings of his native England. When he moved to Paris in the ‘90s—”I certainly wouldn’t go back to die in England”—he made a slew of connections that bridged that difference. It was in London, in 2003, where he bumped into Pedro Winter, aka “Busy P,” and signed with Ed Banger Records, the French electro-pop label of Justice notoriety.

Since then, things have been, well, blissful. VB’s jam-packed schedule keeps him locked in the studio or living out of a suitcase as he jetsets from Europe to Asia for shows. He’s remixed hit songs for the likes of N.E.R.D., Ladytron and fellow Parisian Sébastian Tellier, as well as produced I Love UFO’s debut album in 2006.

“I love Paris because I love wine, women and song,” VB says, with no hint of cheese in his voice. Like everyone else, he doesn’t like taxi cab drivers, and marvels at the gorgeous structural upkeep of places in the city like in the Marais. “Everything is still standing as it was. You are looking at 15th-century buildings. It is still here to see and share, and I think that is amazing.”
