You might think that we’re having a bit of a laugh by recommending this event, but here at unlike we think big old Jean Michel has taken enough stick over recent years for being stuck in his early ‘80s world of synthesizers and warbling electronics. We say that instead of blindly criticizing such evidently ludicrous music, you put your mental energies to much better use by looking past the flashy light shows and performative postulating in favor of simply absorbing some of his magical early works such as Oxygène.
In strange contrast to the cult status achieved by Kraftwerk’s lunar electronics, Jarre’s wacky anachronic odysseys are most often viewed as being more humerous than genius. We reckon that this keyboard wielding maniac is still well worth a watch and that you head down to space-station Bercy tonight.
