Though often pegged as a “designer”, New York-based artist Elisabeth Arkhipoff shakes off the at-times restricting boundaries of design, approaching her commercial work as an inquisitive artist and creating pieces for labels such as Swarovski and Anna Sui and musicians like Dirty.

Her installation “No Soda No Fun” (which featured typical teenage sayings and slogans sprayed onto white objects) was turned into the basis for a DJ Mehdi music video, in which she and street art legend Futura 2000 recreated the piece.

For 12Mail’s second exhibition, the curators present the next installment of artist Arkhipoff’s fictional band Sport Hit Paradise, which she created in Tokyo in 2004. Complete with songs, a website and fanclub, the “band’s” latest output “You in Me” documents the creative process via drawings and collages and is, naturellement, accompanied by a limited edition album release (featuring collaborations with Munk, Villeneuve, Pilooski and more).Quote_transparent
